Scottish Company Enjoys Lions Tour Success

There may not be much of a Scottish on pitch presence as the British & Irish Lions kick off for the first time, but off the pitch tells a different story as an Edinburgh based company is enjoying major business success.

MatchPoint has been representing the nation, generating AUD$4.5million in corporate hospitality sales for the 2013 Lions Tour. MatchPoint will welcome in excess of 7500 rugby fans over the month long tour, with half of the attendees experiencing their new product, Rugby Den.

MatchPoint’s international expertise was used to devise Rugby Den as a more informal concept of corporate hospitality, developing an additional revenue stream for the Australian Rugby Union. It has proved enormously popular across Australasia for the Lions Tour; with sales totalling over AUD$1.5 million.

Group Managing Director, Neil Cunningham said: “Driven from our head office in Edinburgh and delivered by our teams in Sydney, Melbourne and Hong Kong, Rugby Den has been enormously well received for the much anticipated Lions Tests, exceeding all of our expectations. Our aim is to create a relaxed environment for corporate clients to entertain and the concept appears to be hitting all the right notes.”

“MatchPoint is proud of its Scottish roots, so to represent the nation off the pitch during this world famous test series is a great moment. We’ll also be cheering on the three Scots lads when they don the red jersey for the first time tomorrow.”
