Moore Sports launched an audacious bid to bring the 2014 Major League Baseball opening series to Sydney. The matches between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers would be the first time a competitive US baseball fixture had been held in Australia.

MatchPoint was appointed to sell and market the hospitality range and manage selected functions within the Sydney Cricket Ground. The biggest challenge was generating awareness and excitement for a distinctly American event in the Australian market.

A dedicated sales team in Sydney focused solely on the MLB project and selling to corporate Sydney and the MatchPoint database.

Marketing included dedicated sales materials, email campaigns traditional hard copy marketing and face to face meetings and presentations. The product range included suites, boxes, and American styled themed menus and functions - all adding to the Stateside flavour.

Outcome – budgets achieved within 7 weeks, 9 months pre event. “Not just a home run – you hit the ball out the park”
