Global Player MatchPoint Invests in Grassroots Sports

Hospitality expert MatchPoint expands rugby league involvement in both hemispheres with sponsorship of Scotland team at Commonwealth tournament.

International specialist hospitality provider MatchPoint has further cemented its status as a supporter of rugby league with its sponsorship of the Scotland team at the forthcoming Commonwealth Under 19s Championship this weekend.

With offices on both sides of the globe, it is hardly surprising that MatchPoint has forged strong, long-established relationships with rugby league in both hemispheres, with involvement in the Queensland Rugby League and National Rugby League complementing its ties with the Rugby Football League and its sponsorship of Scotland’s successful 2013 Rugby League World Cup side.

Scotland Rugby League Chairperson, Keith Hogg, welcomed MatchPoint’s show of support: "Scotland Rugby League are delighted to have MatchPoint on board as a major sponsor for the Commonwealth Under 19 9-a-side tournament. Their support of the development of rugby league in Scotland is tremendous."

MatchPoint Group Managing Director Neil Cunningham added: “We are heavily involved with rugby league in Australia and the UK and are delighted to continue investing in grassroots sport. We have witnessed Scotland’s recent success at the 2013 RLWC and remain dedicated to developing rugby league in Scotland, giving our players of the future the opportunity to play more rugby, more often.”

With all eyes turning to Scotland ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer, Keith Hogg said he was confident of the young Scots putting on a good show in front of a home crowd at Cumbernauld: "We are delighted to be the host of this major tournament. We are very confident that we will put on a good show for those who come along to support us at the tournament."
