MatchPoint Announces Scotland Rugby League Sponsorship

MatchPoint is delighted to announce its official sponsorship of Scotland’s national Rugby League team, “The Bravehearts”, at the Rugby World Cup 2013 and the successful Schools Cup competition in 2014.

The Edinburgh-based, international corporate hospitality specialists are renowned throughout the world of Rugby League, providing corporate hospitality at events such as State of Origin, NRL Grand Final and previous World Cups.

Neil Cunningham, Group Managing Director of MatchPoint said: “We’ve enjoyed working with Rugby League over the years in Australia and the UK, where our first involvement was the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. Investing in grassroots sport by sponsoring the Scottish team for this year’s World Cup and contributing to the development of the junior game are both great opportunities. If our funding can help more people play more rugby, more often, then it is a winning result for all”.

MatchPoint will be a short and shirt sponsor during the World Cup and supply the squad, coaching staff and officials with kilts and trews made with the MatchPoint tartan. MatchPoint also contributes a significant sum to support the development of community rugby league in Scotland. In 2014, the three schools cup competitions will be renamed “The MatchPoint Saltire Schools Cup”.

Danny Brough, Huddersfield Giants and Scotland star said: “It is great for Scotland Rugby League to have a Scottish based company like MatchPoint providing excellent and imaginative support for both the development of the sport at youth level and the national team.”
